I need to take some better quality, updated pictures of each room since we're settled in and everything has a place now. We love it here! It's close to the interstate but in a great spot that feels quiet, private and cozy. The last couple of weekends we have been working on the yard and planting our garden. Keeping up with a yard is hard work for two busy, young people! I'm pretty sure the flowers I've planted are slowly dying...ugh.

Home Sweet Home
Alex and I are homeowners! Its crazy and weird and exciting! I'm not sure the weight of a mortgage has hit me yet, and that's ok! I hope it never does. I'm just thinking of it as a more serious rent payment, I guess. Our lease is up on Sunday. I've spent the last two days playing Cinderella in our apartment so it's nice and clean when the manager walks through. I think I'll feel so much better once all our things are at the house and we're not split between the two anymore.
We are working on putting everything away and getting into a groove at the house. Right now, we're sleeping in what will be the guest room since we just bought new bedroom furniture for the master. Unfortunately it will be two to four weeks until our bedroom furniture comes in so right as we're getting used to being in the house, we'll jump rooms!
When we first looked at the house, we thought we wouldn't need to paint anything. It's all colors we like, very neutral and tasteful. The more I'm in the house though the more I think, "Yeah, I'd like to paint the master, and the hallway and the master bath and the living room." I just want to make it our space. We may end up painting the master since we have no furniture in there and we've got a couple of weeks, but we'll see. Furniture was our number one priority, so we'll have to consult the budget. Luckily, paint isn't too expensive. I'll have to think about curtains in there too if we paint...oh man! Maybe I'll get adventurous and DIY it up!
We have a new couch coming soon, hopefully it will be in next week! And we're in the process of finding a TV cabinet. The previous owners had a giant mirror on one of the walls in the living room, which Alex really liked. It definitely made the room feel bigger. Maybe if we can find a good deal we'll get that as well.
Next on our list of things to get is a dining room table. Man, are they expensive or what?! For just a table and chairs. We're just using what we had right now which looks fine. It's a cute little breakfast nook. I think I'll eventually spray paint some frames we had at the apartment and change out the art that's in them, but I'll get to that later. I was hoping to get some landscaping done this fall since it's the perfect time for it! But since we just bought furniture, that's going to have to wait til next year. Meet Chandler!
Can you tell she has gotten bigger? This is Chandler! She is a cocker spaniel-labrador mix, also known as a spanador. She is 12 weeks old and growing like a weed! Her first visit to the vet at 8 weeks she weighed 5.6 pounds. Yesterday at her 12 week visit she weighed 10.5 pounds. She is all legs!
A few days before we got her, we bought all the necessities: leash, collar, food and water bowls, puppy pads, food, crate, etc. We overestimated how big she was going to be because the collar and leash were much too big for our tiny pup! In another month or two we may need them though, since she's growing so fast.We also overestimated how fast it would take to house train her. I think we used four puppy pads out of the 50 or so giant pack that we bought. But that's a good thing! She never really peed in the house until we started her in the crate. Thankfully she hasn't ever gone in her crate, but if she's in it for several hours sometimes she just can't hold it until we get her outside.
She is doing really well on the leash-she loves going for walks. She loves playing with her tennis balls and her cow toys. She also loves biting ankles and fingers, but we're trying to curb that habit. I can't wait until she's big enough to go to a dog park and I can't wait to find some time for her to meet our friends' dog Sampson, who is also a playful lab that she will love!
I have to give credit to my mom for teaching Chandler her tricks. My parents have been a huge help while Alex and I have been in the process of looking for a house and moving, by taking care of Chandler and letting us keep her there. She loves her grandparents and they keep her in line! Chandler sure has learned to sit pretty!
*Note: We are moving next week!!!!! More on that to come. I've been too nervous I would jinx something by saying anything to early, but the time is coming quickly! SO excited!*

Tea Time
I'm really into Jenny Hobick's blog/website. She is a mom, wife, ex-caterer, and her blog is about food, decorating, and party planning. It's my getaway website at work. I dream about planning brunches and parties with fun finger foods. I have scoured the website and yesterday morning I remembered her recipe for scones. It basically calls for flour, sugar, cream, eggs, and any mix-in you want, which I already had. I had also pinned this really simple recipe for lemon curd, which I've only had at the English Rose tea room in downtown Chattanooga served with scones. I always thought it was really fancy, but the recipe made it seem really easy to make.
Cranberry Scones with an Orange Glaze
from Jenny Hobick
In a mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt using the paddle attachment. Cut the cold butter into 1/2 inch pieces. Add the butter to the dry ingredients and mix on low until the butter is mixed in and is the size of peas. In a separate bowl, mix together eggs and whipping cream with a fork. Turn the mixer on low and slowly add the cream and egg mixture. Turn off the mixer once added. Fold in cranberries.
Put some flour on the counter. Turn the dough out onto the floured surface. Add some flour onto the top of the dough, then pat it out into a disk - about 8-9 inches in diameter.
Cut the disk into 6 pieces like a pie. Separate the pieces and put them on a silpat or parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-17 minutes.
To make the glaze, stir together orange juice, zest and powdered sugar. Generously drizzle the glaze over warm scones.

3 lemons
2 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons butter
Zest the lemons with a microplane grater. Cut each lemon in half and juice the lemons. In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, whisk together the lemon zest, lemon juice, eggs and sugar. Whisk constantly and make sure the mixture does not come to a boil (or the eggs will curdle). When the mixture is hot, turn the heat to low and whisk in the butter, 1 tablespoon at a time. Continue cooking on low for 6 minutes until the lemon glaze has thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
With a big pot of tea, this was one of the best breakfasts I've had since I went to the English Rose Tea Room.
Flower Shop
When I was a little girl, I was always creating something. I was a huge fan of the American Girl magazine that regularly had articles about creating a product and then teaching how to market it and sell your product at things like yard sales and to neighbors. I remember making these "natural" (peanut butter, oatmeal, etc.) dog treats and stamping my "brand" (a stamp from Michael's and my name!) on paper bags to bag them up. I walked around to my neighbors that had dogs and sold them, then gave the rest to my dog. I loved creating and the idea of having my own business. Why I didn't pursue that in college is beyond me. I think God knew what he was doing when he put nursing on my heart, but I lately I have been yearning to create and make that my job. It doesn't help that that's the "thing" for moms and young women to do today, and many of my facebook friends bombard my newsfeed with their own Etsy shops and craft websites.
When I got married, I really wanted to do my own flowers, but that's almost impossible when you're the bride. Since then the idea of a flower shop has really stuck in my head. I think about it all the time. I have a Pinterest board just for pictures of flower arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres, and any wedding decor consisting of flowers.
All of that to explain why I did what I did this past Tuesday. I went to Fresh Market and bought about 6 different bundles of flowers to try my hand at making bouquets and centerpieces. It actually turned out alright, if I don't say so myself.

Drew and Addie's Wedding
The weekend got started for me on Thursday afternoon, running a lot of errands (i.e. buying hot rollers, and some goodies for the honeymoon). Friday began with helping set up for the reception at the church. Lots of chair ties and vases and candles and jade green galore! The afternoon flew by and we all had to make ourselves leave, including the bride, so we could go get ready for the rehearsal, entrusting her awesome aunts with finishing the reception area. We flew through the rehearsal, with only one bridesmaid tripping! We were soon off to Big River Grille to eat an awesome buffet dinner, including their incredible chocolate cake and some awkward but really fun conversation! The girls and the guys split off for the night. While the guys were getting their crazy on, us girls had a nice, calm, and restful evening, except that Molly and I ended up staying awake til 3 am!
Saturday began at 7 am for the girls. We had brunch at the Choo Choo, then back to the church to get ready. Addie had kept her dress a secret from everyone but her mom, which made it so special when we saw her in her dress. She was so pretty! Her dress was very delicate and just made her look lovely. We took some cute pictures and then we waited...My favorite part of the day I think was when all the bridesmaids gathered around Addie about 20 minutes before the wedding and we all prayed over her. I of course boo-hoo'ed the whole time! Then I cried when I saw Drew and the groomsmen walk out for the ceremony. Then I cried more when I heard the song "Beautiful" by Phil Wickam start playing. And then Drew had tears running down his face when he saw Addie! It was so sweet, but I'm not sure I've ever cried that much at a wedding...not even at my own! The ceremony was perfect and the reception was fun! It was cut a little short due to rainy weather, but fortunately we got everyone outside with bubbles in hand, and wished them off in their antique get-away car before the sky literally fell out and rain and hail poured! It was beautiful and we had a really good time.
5 Things I learned from this weekend:
1) Weddings bring out all types of inappropriateness from everyone (especially me! ;-) )
2) I am SO glad my wedding has already happened and that it was perfect!
3) My cute, black, pretty pretty princess shoes give me ugly, bubbly blisters when worn for 6+ hours.
4) Our little family of friends needs to get dressed up more...we're HOT!
5) Alex is really good at being the best man and I am so lucky to have married him.
I'm not sure what I would do without our family of friends...I love that we're honest and open, loving and accepting, funny and sometimes crude, but we always strive to glorify God through each other and our times together. This wedding really proved that. I'm about to cry just writing this...I need sleep!
Addie and Drew-I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in Jamaica and that you get much needed rest and relaxation. Enjoy your first week of marriage!

The Waiting Game
Alex and I put an offer on a house a couple of weeks ago...and we're still waiting. It is bank owned so there is no telling when the bank will respond to our offer. I didn't think it would be this hard to wait! The thought of spending that much money all at once is terrifying, and not knowing whether or not it's going to happen is annoying.
The hardest part is dreaming about all the changes we want to make to the house and not being able to buy stuff for the house! Alex and I were in Nashville for a couple of days and went to an antique mall with two of our friends. I found so much stuff I wanted to get to decorate with and after begging Alex for one thing after the other, he gave me the steps...
1) actually get the house!
2) repaint the walls in pretty much every room and paint the cabinets in the kitchen.
3) replace carpet upstairs and put hardwood downstairs or just put hardwood floor throughout, tile in bathrooms
4) move in (we hope that we will have this convenience)
5) refrigerator and possibly other appliances that may disappear between now and closing (awesome part about foreclosures...not)
6) new furniture
7) DOG!!!
8) decorating...
All while praying that nothing is wrong with the house inspection/termite inspection and the roof doesn't fall apart in 6 months! [**Just FYI: a baby was like step 25 :-(** ] The one awesome thing is that our apartment lease is through the end of September, so if we get the house, we have plenty of time to do some quick changes and move in without being rushed, and if we don't get the house, we have plenty of time to look for another one--all while saving money, money, money!

Cute, perfect size for us, fenced in-decent sized backyard, 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, and a two car garage in East Brainerd!

Life As We Know It
Foreword: I am terrible at blogging regularly...not like anyone reads my blog but I hate seeing that it's been so long since I have posted something.
Probably the biggest thing that has happened since I last posted is me getting my dream job as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It has been a struggle adjusting to a different work schedule and getting used to a new job. I am still working as needed, usually one time a week, at The Allergy and Asthma Group where I was. They started training me to work in the office part, not just in the shot lab, so at both of my jobs I am learning new things! I work nights at the hospital which is 6:30 pm to 7 am. Completely opposite of my husband's, our families', and friends' schedules so I feel like it's a small miracle when I can hang out with friends. That's a little dramatic because sometimes I get 5 days in a row off and I'll get to do a lot. Usually the way it works out though, everyone is busy when I'm off and free when I'm working; then I feel really left out and lonely. Night shift sleeping schedule is not a breeze either. I don't sleep nearly as well during the day. I usually wake up every hour scared to death I've over slept or my cat wakes me up or a text message will wake me up or a leaf blower or someone's washing machine...I could go on and on. AND when I can sleep at night, I don't sleep well either because my body has gotten used to working at night. I barely ever get a solid 6-7 hours of sleep. That I'm sure will at some point start taking a toll on my body but for right now I feel pretty good despite the lack of sleep. The worst thing about night shift is not being at home with Alex at night. That used to be my guarenteed time with him since he's also super busy. We have to go week by week, day by day and plan our time together. Sometimes we'll go three days and see each other maybe three hours. It stinks. Great birth control...it would seriously be a miracle if I were to get pregnant any time soon.
I have to remind myself every day, especially when I'm driving to work knowing that my husband is hanging out with our friends without me, or going to church without me, or my brothers are home from school and it will be three days before I get to spend time with them, that this is God's plan and SO many people prayed that I would get this job! I begged God for this job, knowing this is what I wanted to do all through nursing school. Alex has to continuously remind me to be grateful to even have a job and to have a flexible job and a job that I usually love while I'm there! I also have to remind myself that I'm still pretty new at this job and am still learning the ropes and eventually there will be an opportunity for me to move to day shift. God has a purpose and a plan for me, and it is not an accident that I am where I am! Easy to say, hard to live out.
Alex and I are starting to look for a house! It's stressful knowing how much money it will cost, especially if it's not exactly what you want. Sometimes I feel like it's like picking out your wedding dress. You have to stick to your budget but it's hard to pick out the one that's perfect for you. And once you've bought it, that's it! No more hunting because you can't exchange or return it. I'm looking forward to having something more permanent than an apartment, and making it our's. Alex and I really love HGTV and home repair/renovation so there's already been a trip to Home Depot to pick out flooring we like and paint colors and granite countertops. It's fun to plan. I'm also looking forward to getting a dog!
Speaking of pets, I forgot another big thing that's happened since I last blogged. Alex and I took in a stray cat. Her name is Carla and she is about 2 or 3, according to the vet. She can be very sweet and snuggly when she wants to be, but she is usually very loud, meowing for no reason at all, and sneaky. She really likes to hide under our bed and dart out from underneath when I walk by, giving me a heart attack. She seems to prefer Alex much more than me, as she will sit in his lap and snuggle with him while he sleeps. I'm still getting used to her and so ready for her to have a puppy friend to play with.
I'll try to post some pictures later. I should also do a post about Disney, Passion 2012, and my awesome new scar and bangs! That should be fun.

Devastating
Alex and I returned from Rock the Universe last night, and I will unfortunately post about it later. My mom told me today that my cousin's nephew had passed away after a devastating, unexpected, cancer diagnosis ten days ago. My cousin is Cody, who is married to Sara, who have a little boy of their own, just a few months older than Marco. Sara's sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Chris, are baby Marco's parents. Marco was just nine months old. Although they are just barely family by marriage, my heart is broken for them. Today is also the day my uncle Ed passed away, my cousin Cody's father, two years ago which I'm sure is making this day even harder for them. I'm praying that they turn to God during this difficult time because there is no one else that can provide answers, healing, or peace. Job Search
Hello strangers...it's been a busy summer. I am so happy to have Alex back at home but this by far was the best Fuge experience we've had. Things really do change when you get married, maybe not as far as convenience goes since I wasn't there all summer; but within the staff, they treat you so differently than what we experienced when we were engaged. I really felt like I was apart of the staff, especially when I visited, because everyone knew so much about me and really cared how we were doing. Not to say that didn't happen the last two summers, but there's definitely a "we take you seriously" tone towards married staffers. I met some wonderful, supportive, amazing friends and am a little sad that I won't be escaping to PCB any time soon.
Here's the deal with my job search. I passed the NCLEX (scary nurse licensing board test) in July and have been actively looking for jobs since FEBRUARY. Yes, February. Now I didn't expect to hear anything back until I had passed the NCLEX but I just thought I should put it out there that I have been on the search for 6 months. After I took the NCLEX and passed (woo hoo!), I started getting very, very hopeful. I had applied for several jobs at Erlanger by then. Weeks went by and I still heard nothing. I began applying for any job with RN in the description including Memorial Hospital as well. More weeks have gone by and still nothing. I've started including Parkridge Hospital now. I have now applied for 27 jobs at 3 hospitals and still heard nothing.
It is beyond frustrating, especially knowing that pretty much everyone else in my graduating class (nursing class) has a job. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's just because I'm not going about this the right way. I don't know a lot of people so I don't have a whole lot of connections, which is also frustrating because that seems to be the only way people get jobs.
I'm praying for something to happen.
Here's the deal with my job search. I passed the NCLEX (scary nurse licensing board test) in July and have been actively looking for jobs since FEBRUARY. Yes, February. Now I didn't expect to hear anything back until I had passed the NCLEX but I just thought I should put it out there that I have been on the search for 6 months. After I took the NCLEX and passed (woo hoo!), I started getting very, very hopeful. I had applied for several jobs at Erlanger by then. Weeks went by and I still heard nothing. I began applying for any job with RN in the description including Memorial Hospital as well. More weeks have gone by and still nothing. I've started including Parkridge Hospital now. I have now applied for 27 jobs at 3 hospitals and still heard nothing.
It is beyond frustrating, especially knowing that pretty much everyone else in my graduating class (nursing class) has a job. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's just because I'm not going about this the right way. I don't know a lot of people so I don't have a whole lot of connections, which is also frustrating because that seems to be the only way people get jobs.

Oh Boy!
This weekend was CRAZY. That is the only word to describe everything that happened the entire weekend. Crazy fun, crazy scary-at times, crazy weird, crazy happy-friend time!
I drove to Memphis along with Mary and Molly which accounts for about 40 % of the craziness right there. :) Most of our friends probably kept up with Molly's Twitter and knew all of this as it was happening, but for blog-sake I want to tell the whole story. Within an hour of driving, right as we passed the Alabama line, I get pulled over...He asks, "Were you wearing your seatbelt before I pulled you over?" Now in my head I just answered the question. But Mary and Molly both heard, in a fairly offended tone of voice, me say, "Yeah, I always wear my seatbelt! It's the first thing I do when I get in the car!" Turns out his car said, "Seat Belt Enforcement." What other state has that by itself?! I get that he couldn't see that I had it on, but I did and I was annoyed. Strike #1 on the trip. We decided early on that we would try going Highway 72 through Alabama instead of up to Nashville and across to Memphis because it's supposed to be shorter. However, we missed the turn to stay on 72 and started heading towards Birmingham before we realized what had happened then got misguiding directions which got us lost for a good hour or so--Strike 2! In the midst of being lost, it stormed really hard with really scary lightning and thunder and crazy loud rain--Strike 3. It definitely put me on edge because I hate driving in the rain (who doesn't?) and I hate lightning. It makes my throat spasm every time it strikes. Molly hates being lost so she was on edge and on the phone with her parents (who live in Virginia) trying to get us back on track. Mary, I'm sure, on the inside was laughing her head off because that's just the kind of person she is. Later, once we were back on track and through the storm, we laughed and sang really loud with the windows down and were a big happy family again.
We FINALLY made it to Memphis, and believe it or not we had not pulled our hair out or killed each other! Listening to Whitney Houston made all the strikes a lot better and the last couple of hours tolerable. We stayed with Mary's awesome friend Carrie, in her sweet apartment, and had a fun night on the town. Fun fact about Friday night: A stranger sang "Part of Your World" to Molly--hilarious and awkward!
Saturday, we met up with Molly's friend Rob who chauffeured us to Graceland!!! I was pumped, and I was very impressed. It took me a little longer to get through the exhibits than everyone else because I was so enthralled. It was so cool to see everything and to think that Elvis lived there. I don't idolize him by any means but the history of Elvis is very interesting.
Bethany's wedding was gorgeous, as expected. The church was huge with big, stained-glass windows. She looked like a wedding edition Barbie doll! Her dress was so pretty and she and Kyle are so sweet together. The reception was awesome at the Pink Palace. I was so excited when we pulled into the drive of a HUMONGOUS mansion. We picked a table that was in the room with the shrunken head. Food was good, cake was good, band was good. We stayed as long as we could and were very happy that we were there when they were announced and to see them cut the cake.
We opted for going the interstate on the way home after Friday's fiasco, so it was a straight shot to Nashville and then to Chattanooga. Mary and Molly were awesome car riders and kept the driving fun and kept me awake! Our jams included as I said before Whitney Houston, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Boys II Men, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Ben Folds, and many more. Overall, a crazy, fast road trip to Memphis that was a lot of fun!

Yesterday was one of my first days off during the week that I've had since Alex left for camp. It was so nice and relaxing. I went to the pool with my mom and brother, then went shopping thanks to my mom :), and had plans to go biking at the River Walk downtown but the rain but those plans away and my family just came over and chilled at my apartment. We watched TV and played games and ate cookies. For lunch, I cooked spaghetti, which I know isn't hard, but I cooked! I'm very proud of myself actually taking yesterday off and not cramming a bunch of crazy plans into yesterday so that I could actually rest and recooperate from the last few weeks.
Alex is doing well. The next two weeks of camp will be a little hectic with not a day off until I get there July 1! :( But they'll be ok. The band is doing well and loving having Johann, their electric guitar player, actually there instead of via computer tracks! It allows them to have a lot more freedom during worship and a lot more fun. I hear that he is doing an awesome job at leading Bible study and having conversations with students--pretty impressive for his first FUGE summer. I think they're all loving being at the beach because it allows for some awesome free time activities. They go sea kayaking almost every day off. I've heard about some awesome "sno-balls" that are made with a little bit of ice cream, and some good Korean food. I'm really looking forward to going down there in a week and a half to experience Panama City Beach and spend some vacation time with Alex.
Until then, I am working, going to another wedding as my last post explained, and taking the NCLEX and passing (positive reinforcement!)! Prayers would be appreciated. :)

Weddings Galore!
After this coming weekend, Bethany and Kyle's wedding will make my fourth wedding in three weeks! It really is the season of weddings for all the people my age, as Alex was a groomsman in the first one of the four, and I was a bridesmaid in the second one. I will post pictures after this weekend of all four weddings. :)
Wedding #1: Chris and Glendra Craig
Chris and Glendra and really good friends of Alex and myself. Alex met Chris in middle school and I met Glendra in high school. The four of us went to prom together, we did lots of double dates and triple dates with other couples and had a lot of fun together. Their wedding was at the General Woods Inn in Rising Fawn, Georgia. Since it was so close to my friend Mary's house, two of my friends and I went to her house to hang out before the wedding after dropping off our groomsmen. Once we got back up to the Inn we were ready for the wedding. It was pretty warm outside still at 5 pm. It had rained that afternoon too so the humidity was terrible. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. When I post pictures you will be able to see the backdrop of mountains they had behind them when they said their vows. Their Zelda theme was very tastefully done. :) Food and cake were delicious. I happened to win VIP passes to Riverbend from work for Saturday night and since Alex came in for the weekend we decided to head out after dinner to spend some time by ourselves. The bride and groom were totally ok with it--thanks Chris and Glendra for being awesome about that. I heard the rest of the reception was a rockin' party with lots of dancing!
The Beach Boys played at Riverbend Saturday night with special guest John Stamos!!! It was such a blast. Alex and I sang along and danced the whole time. Of course I was stoked that John Stamos was there playing and singing with the Beach Boys but they put on an awesome show. So glad Alex and I went.
Wedding #2: JT and Katie Nelson
Katie and I met in high school and have been best friends since then! Through us going to separate colleges and her starting her teaching career, each time we see each other we just pick up where we left off. Our time together is usually also with our other best friend Molly White. The three of us were a mess in high school--so silly but great friends and it remains that way! It was so much fun to be a part of Katie's wedding and to be around those friends. All the bridesmaids spent Friday night at a hotel (thanks to Katie's mom!). We watched silly Youtube videos and did our nails and ate cupcakes and played Mad Gab and finally crashed around 1:30 am. It was also great to get to know a couple of JT's sisters who were bridesmaids. That family is so funny and awesome! Glad we're friends now. :) Saturday, we woke up and at breakfast together and started doing our hair. We had a lot of chill time at her house after we left the hotel because there were so many people to help set the wedding up, which was in her parent's backyard. The sun stayed around until about 4 pm as we were finishing up pictures, and then dark clouds rolled in bringing thunder and then of course...rain. I thought everyone was going to make a run for the tent so I did, but the rest of the family and bridal party just huddled in the barn. I was in the tent for about 20 to 30 min with some of Katie's family when we saw everyone running from the barn! Thankfully water dries so no one's clothes were messed up and Katie looked beautiful despite the rain. Thank goodness she was an awesome bride and took the rain with grace! She was so carefree and laidback that it made that crazy situation of everyone under the tent surrounded by pouring rain fun and not stressful. A lot of people still showed up and we were only delayed about an hour. The ceremony was still able to happen outside and it was beautiful. When the music started playing I just started crying because I was so happy it was actually happening. Lots of waiting but so worth it. The sun started to come out about 8 pm, just in time to wish the off! Definitely unforgettable!
Wedding #3: John and Becky Partin
John is one of my many cousins and he and Becky got married around the same time Katie did, so as soon as I left Katie's wedding I headed downtown to catch the end of their reception and to see some of my family. The band was really good and so much fun to listen to. If I had had a dance partner I would have been dancing the whole time I was there. When they started playing "Jesse's Girl" I had to get up and dance, so I pulled my 8 yr old cousin up and he danced with me some. It was so good to see my family and catch a glimpse of the bride and groom and give them a hug of congrats at the end of their celebration! A very exhausting day, but it wasn't over yet. My friend Sarah met me at the reception downtown and after I changed we headed down towards the river to catch the fireworks at Riverbend. Most of the way, we ran because they started while we were still walking, which I'm paying for now with some painful shin splints but the fireworks were good and we still got to see a good bit of them. I slept really well after two weddings and a late night with the fireworks!
This weekend Mary, Molly and I are heading to Memphis to see Bethany's wedding. I met Bethany through Molly and we were in a Bible study together. Alex is at camp and I am doing really well, if I don't say so myself. No tears have been shed, compared to the last summer when I cried atleast two to three times a week if not more. Alex is doing really well. I am so thankful for the peace God has given me though. I know without a doubt that we are doing the right thing, otherwise Alex and I wouldn't have the peace that we have in this decision we have made to be apart for a few weeks. Last year I really struggled being away while planning the wedding and working, and I felt like I was missing something. This summer I have a lot of determination to be strong for Alex and myself because crying all the time is exhausting and I'm not fun to talk to. I am also keeping myself very busy working almost 40 hours a week, helping with VBS, planning time with friends, and studying for the NCLEX. I am staying strong for Alex so that he knows I support him, but I know that it's not from within my own self that the strength is coming. Praise Jesus! Marriage still works even if you're not together every night!
Speaking of the NCLEX, I am scheduled to take it June 28 and am studying for it every day via an online review course. For now I am staying at my current job because I absolutely love it. I'm struggling with what I should do as far as looking for another job. I'm not sure if I should wait for my dream job and until then work where I am, or bite the bullet and get a floor nurse job and hate it until I get my dream job, OR stay where I am for a while and LOVE it and wait it out. I'm praying about it but it's hard to discern what God wants me to do from what I really want to do and be comfortable with.
Busy, busy, busy as always! Loving life though. I'm going to four weddings the next three weekends and I get to see Alex on Friday so I'm super pumped. :)

Graduation Reflection
This year has already had it's historical moments: the devastating tsunami in Japan; the too-close-to-home destruction of the South by tornadoes; the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; and most recently, the death of Osama bin Laden. On Saturday I will walk across a stage, signifying my graduation from the Universityof Tennessee at Chattanooga and the completion of nursing school--quite the historic moment in my life! My youngest brother is graduating from high school a week from Saturday, and returning to my high school for all his closing senior events has made me reflect on my high school graduation and thus my four years of high school and four years of college.
Since 2011 has already been pretty historic and it's only May, what kind of historic eventshappened in 2007, when I graduated high school?
-the announcement of the iPhone
-Nancy Pelosi was elected the first female Speaker of the House
-Virginia Tech shootings
-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is released (eery! Part II of the 7th Harry Potter movies comes out this summer!)
What's weird is that deadly tornadoes hit Alabama (killing 20 people) and an earthquake in Japan occurred in 2007...history really does repeat itself.
Through all these tragedies, this year especially, has reminded me of a passage in Roman 8:18-22.
" For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eagerlonging for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of thechildren of God."
